Hyderabad communal riots – Rosaiah suspects sabotage
Politics | admin | March 28, 2010 at 9:20 amLooks like there is no peace of mind to CM Rosaiah. Even as he was breathing easy after the 3 month long Telangana agitation, the communal riots in the old city of Hyderanad on Saturday and Sunday disturbed him a lot.
More than 2 dozen people received injuries in the communal clashes in the Old City, following a dispute over putting up of flags by a community and resisted by another in Moosabowli and Hussainialam in Hyderabad. On sunday the riots spread to other areas like Mylardevpalli in Rajendernagar, Siddiambar Bazar and Afzalgunj. The rioters attacked the passers by and indiscriminately beat them up as there were rumours that religious places were being attacked, further heightening tensions. The police had to impose Section 144 in the entire South Zone of Hyderabad.
Rosaiah had an emergency meeting with the police officials and ordered them to bring the riots under control by dealing with the abettors of violence sternly. He still remembers how certain forces had instigated communal riots to pull down the then Channa Reddy government in 1991. There were allegations against the then Congress rebel leader Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Now, he must be suspecting a similar hand. That City police commissioner A K Khan claimed that the communal riots were pre-planned itself indicates that Rosaiah is suspecting some sabotage!
