Marri Shashidhar as Deputy CM?

In view of strong Telangana sentiment and possible cabinet expansion, the issue of deputy chief minister post to a Telangana leader has surfaced on the screen. According to informed sources, five Telangana senior MLAs were making Herculean efforts to test their luck. The Congress High Command too floated the “deputy chief minister idea” to shoot two birds at one shot. The party high priests also strongly feel that a Deputy Chief Minister from Telangana would solidly support the Chief Minister, Rosaiah, who was facing unending problems since he stepped into the shoes of his predecessor, YSR. Besides, the party bosses feel that tempers in the region will cool down automatically if a senior Telangana Congress leader is appointed as deputy chief minister.

It is learnt that Mr Rosaiah was in favour of Marri Shashidhar Reddy, son of former chief minister late Marri Channa Reddy, who had inducted Mr Rosaiah in his cabinet for the first time. Besides, Mr Shashidhar Reddy has cordial relations with the party bosses in New Delhi.

If the party high command gives a green signal for cabinet expansion, the Chief Minister would door to some 10 ministers who were staunch loyalists of late YSR. Mr Rosaiah was also keen on sacking the Minister for Minorities, Mr Ahamadulla from the cabinet on the ground of poor performance.
