The Congress High Command appears to be serious about the visit Jagan to Warangal district on Friday, to pursue his O Yatra, which he proposed to undertake, to console those who lost a family member after the sad demise of his father YSR.
Everyone knows what has happened on May 28 2010 in Warangal, it was a war like situation and Telanganites got shot by police and some MLA’s gunmen opened fired. Then, Jagan was arrested and police took him back to hyderabad and he is under house arrest for a week.
Though the Congress leadership has not openly restrained Mr Jagan from undertaking this tour, the mood was clearly against it. Veerappa Moily, Congress general secretary in charge of AP affairs, reportedly called up Jagan and advised him against the tour. The telephonic conversation of Moily was sought to be seen as a direction from the High Command. However, Jagan has chosen to ignore the advise and proceeded to Mahabubabad where the opposition by Telangana supporters to his tour led to police firing and MLA’s gunmen firing in which several T supporters were injured.
In the wake of what happened at Mahabubabad, the media has asked Union minister and Congress senior leader, Pranab Mukherji, and persisted on his response to Jagan’s reported defiance of the High Command.
Though Mr Mukherji did not elaborate about the mood of the party leadership, he said ‘appropriate action would be taken against Jagan at an appropriate time. He also said that the party was hoping that Jagan would stop his tour.
Though Mr. Mukherji has not elaborated more than these two sentences, it was clear from his mood that the party leadership has taken a serious view about Jagan’s visit to Mahabubabad and its aftermath.
