Senior Congress leader and MP, Sarve Satyanarayana, has said that Jagan, should be suspended from congress for defying the party high command and undertaking Warangal tour, where violence erupted and T supporters were injured. He also said that another party MP, L Rajagopal, should also be suspended as he was supporting Jagan and adding fuel to fire.
In an interview, Sarve Satyanarayana said that it was unfortunate that Jagan went ahead with his Odarpu Yatra in spite of the party high command directing him not to do so.
“Jagan has been arguing that it was his personal affair and had nothing to do with the Congress party. He made it as his own show. He can have his own set up. But as long as he was in Congress, he should abide by the party discipline. He should understand that Congress was an ocean and he is not even a single drop in it”, Sarve said.
“His attempts to go to Warangal and console those who lost their family members on hearing the death of YSR after lapse of over six months raised doubts in the minds of every one. He claims that several people have died of shock or committed suicide on hearing the death of YSR. We do not know how many died or no one died at all. There were no deaths even when the leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi laid down lives for the sake of the country. Can there be more deaths because of the death of YSR than the deaths of those great leaders? OK, even if you concede that some people died, is it proper to meet the bereaved families after such a long gap, that too defying the party high command”, Satyanarayana questioned.
When asked if Jagan was trying to float his own party, the senior MP said that it was possible and in a democracy any one could start his own party. He however made it clear that as long as Jagan was in Congress, he should follow the rules of the party and directions of the leadership. The senior Congress leader also alleged that some forces were trying to destabilize the Rosaiah government in the state.
About the Congress high command calling the Praja Rajyam party president, Mr K Chiranjeevi for talks to New Delhi, he said there was need for the PRP and the Congress to come together. He however denied reports that the Congress high command was trying to use Chiranjeevi to put a check to the influence of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Replying to another question, the MP said the Congress would contest the ensuing by-elections to the State Assembly.
