The TDP has decided to contest the by-polls for 12 assembly seats vacated by the supporters of Telangana including 10 TRS members.

TDP, chief CBN has met senior leaders of the party from the Telangana region at his residence in Hyderabad on June 9 2010 and discussed the matter. According to sources, some leaders from the Telangana region including Kadiam Srihari and Errabelli Dayakara Rao have advised the party chief not to field candidates in the polls, and instead support those who had resigned their posts for Telangana.

However, a consensus is believed to have emerged to field candidates as the ruling Congress party has decided to put up its candidates.
