On Friday as news spread that Vijayashanti would be arrested on July 3 2010 morning so that she could be immediately produced in court, hundreds of party workers gathered at her residence. She once again told the media that she was making herself available for the police to arrest. As there were hundreds of party workers, the police have not arrested her at her residence and intercepted her vehicle while she was proceeding to Siddipet on Road No. 3 of Banjara Hills and took her into custody.

Vijayashanti complained to the magistrate that there were no policewomen in the police party that arrested her and alleged that the ACP, Chandramouli dragged her by her hand without considering the fact that she was a lady and an MP.

She told the court that she was not applying for bail. The magistrate has noted her complaint. After being remanded, Vijayashanti was taken to the Chanchalguda Central Jail and was lodged in the women’s wing.
