Congress president Sonia Gandhi is expected to be formally elected for another term in office on Sep 21 2010.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met on Aug 16 2010 and decided the election schedule for the election of the Congress chief and the state party chiefs. Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said after the meeting that according to the election schedule, the election would be notified Aug 27 2010 and the last date of filing nominations is Sep 2.
The date of polling, if necessary is set to Sep 17 2010 and the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on Sep 21 2010.
