TDF Bay Area Protest against AP Formation Day/Samaikyandhra Meeting & L Rajagopal

Sunnyvale, California – November 28th, 2010 – The meeting was organized by APNRI Team to celebrate AP Formation Day and support Samaikyandhra theme. The invitees were Bay Area Andhra and Rayalaseema population along with Lagadapati and other guests. The volunteers from Telangana Development Forum spent their time organizing the protest over the long weekend instead of spending time with their families. TDF would like to thank all the volunteers spent time to protest and raise our voice in support of Telangana cause.

TDF distributed power point presentations with all the statistics of injustice (water, education, jobs, movies, other natural resources, etc.) to the attendees at the entrance of the hall. The presentations were also handed over to the guests while entering the hall, including Lagadapati. It served the purpose of educating them and as well as correcting the wrong statistics used by APNRI Team and the guests. The guests read the document and talked about it during their speeches, referring to specific details.

About 35 of us entered the hall at the beginning of speeches and standing at the back. The group tried to ask questions during Lagadapati speech and objecting to the content of the speech. We weren’t allowed to ask questions, instead of allowing us to ask questions, a group of aggressive team approached us in an argumentative mode and TDF volunteers decided to walk out with “Jai Telangana” slogan at that juncture.

” Desha Bhashalalo Telugu Lessa”, it was the preaching at the meeting. However, the theme was not in sync with aggressive behavior and language used by organizers and active volunteers during peaceful pamphlet distribution. Yes, it is less, “less” in ethics, honesty and harmony. “Telugu Bhasha Perutho Samaikya Vadana – Idi Mana Sanskruthi”, does the theme sound familiar? “Samaikyandhra” exploitation and suppression and the foundation of it? The meeting was organized by APNRI Team and there were hardly any Telangana audience in the hall which should have represented 40% of A.P. and APNRI Team. Isn’t it the time, at least for NRIs to be socially responsible? And, not to patronize such organizations and embrace politicians with a theme of exploiting other Indians on the name of “Samaikya”? Doesn’t it re-confirm strong case for Telangana State that was already made and why is it necessary to unfold the Telangana region the way it was 54 years ago?

Telangana doesn’t need change of guard for A.P., it needs Telangana State!
