Cong going to be hero in Telangana?

The demand for the separate state of Telangana has been there for decades. This issue was not a petty one to keep on postponing. In fact, the international media–such as BBC and Reuters–reporting on Telangana struggle makes it evident that the magnitude is not small. BBC has already reported that the Centre promised Telangana State on December 9, 2009. If the Centre rolls back on the statement, it would undoubtedly damage the integrety of the country.

The Indian National Congress–the party that has so much of fame to its credit–for playing big in Indian Freedom Struggle should not remain as the party that had cheated the crores of Telangana people. There is probably only a pinch of faith in Telangana people on the Congress, and if it gives the State on time, it shall remain in the history books as the hero. People would literally pray the Congress. They shall also equally obey all the parties and would always be obliged to BJP for supporting the Telangana cause. As long as Telangana exists, the party shall not have death. I personally saw people celebrate by bursting crackers and exchanging sweets telling Sonia amma (meaning Sonia mother) declared Telangana State on her birthday as a gift to crores of people. The happiness of the people knew no boundaries then.

Secondly, the home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy made a few statements in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly relating to yesterday’s incidents on the tank bund. Though I felt like clapping, I was sitting among a group of working people and my applause would only make them raise their eye brows. Nevertheless, the chief minister also spoke on the issue and pin-pointed at the opposition parties stressing that they had nodded for Telangana State, in an all party meet in Hyderabad before Centre declared Telangana State. The CM went on to say that their statements were recorded and only after that the Centre came out with clear statement on Telangana.

Taking into consideration the meeting that was convened in the first week of December in 2009, the Centre should go ahead with Telangana formation. Notably, the chief minister’s statements clearly project that the consensus was there between all the political parties. Now, if those political parties changed their stand–after Centre promising Telangana–that would be the headache of those political parties itself. Hence, I find that Centre has enough reason and logic to go carve out Telangana State. However, if it choses to dance to the tunes of the double standard politicians, leaders continue to trouble the Government.

Coming to the incidents on Tank Bund, while reiterating that I strongly condemn the violent acts that weaken the movement, I would like to stress on a few points. My confidential sources said that some forces are trying to mis-lead the movement of the Telangana Joint Action Committee led by Prof. Kodandaram. The TJAC believes in achieving the state through peaceful and strictly non-violent methods. I request the Telangana activists and protagonists to maintain restraint and urge you dear brothers and sisters not to resort to violent methods. The Centre will sure carve out Telangana. If they don’t then you have the votes in your hands. Peaceful protests are to be taken out and follow strictly what TJAC says. Do not please make your own decisions or follow the individual politicians. Telangana Movement is pious and it should remain a peaceful one forever. Resorting to violence will not bring state, but will only weaken the movement and will also demoralise and upset the other protagonists. Please try and understand.

Further, I also urge the Telangana Joint Action Committee to please take permission from the police for protests so that no one can raise fingers. Secondly, it would leave no scope for the ill forces to cause damage to the public property.

Jai Telangana, Jai Hind!
