A parallel “Assembly” of MLAs from Telangana would be held at a private function hall here on Monday for the limited purpose of passing a resolution demanding Statehood to the region and sending it to the Central government.

It will be held under the aegis of Telangana Journalists Forum with the participation of Congress, Telugu Desam, TRS and BJP legislators who have been boycotting the Assembly in the last few days to highlight the demand.

The TJF convenor Allam Narayana told a press conference on Sunday that the “Assembly will adjourn after passing of the resolution”. It will also discuss suicide by students who were frustrated over delay in formation of State and the destruction of statues on Tank Bund.

Mr. Narayana said the TJF was only facilitating the event as a neutral organisation on behalf of the people of Telangana. It could not be held responsible for wrong signals that might go to people if some of the MLAs from the region do not attend it.
