T MLCs pressing for privilege notice to SKC
News pulse, Politics | admin | March 26, 2011 at 8:08 amSKC, whose secret note has come in for all round criticism, is likely to be hauled up by the Legislative Council for its damning observations on the statehood movement. A group of Telangana MLCs, belonging to Congress, has given a notice of privilege against the five-member panel.
The MLC Chairman Chakrapani has assured to consider it and take necessary follow-up action. If he admits the privilege motion, then the Srikrishna Committee members and its chairman and former Supreme Court judge Justice BN Srikrishna could be summoned to the House and pulled up for violating the rights of MLCs.
The MLCs K R Amos, K Yadava Reddy, Jagadeeswar Reddy and Bhanuprasad submitted a privilege notice the Council Chairman, contending that the Chapter 8 of the SRK report contained several observations that amounted to insulting the elected representatives of Telangana region and hence action should be taken against the Committee members.
The secret note of the 500-page report has already angered Telangana proponents as it presented a scary law and order situation if the state is bifurcated. It said that Telangana would become an “epicentre” for Maoist and communal violence if AP is divided. The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has already demanded prosecution of the Committee members for giving a misleading report.
