Was it a crime to unite Telugu speaking people?
News pulse, Politics | admin | March 26, 2011 at 2:42 pmThe cunning chameleon and the lone person having two eyes had raised a question a couple of weeks ago in a press conference that ‘was it a crime to unite Telugu speaking people? And he wished that the intellectuals and the media should have a thorough debate on this issue. Indeed it is the most important question that every single person who claims to be a Telugu speaker should pose to himself and replies should be given with utmost honesty. My answer to the question of CBN is:
In fact the formation of TDP was with the slogan of ‘Restoration of Telugu Pride’ and its popularity (not the winning of 1983 election as it has many factors involved in the defeat of congress party) has been considered as reestablishing or re asserting of the united Andhra state, and had been quoted by many at many a times. But, if one goes through the history of 26 years from the formation of AP in 1956, will realize that, although the rulers (read as CMs and Ministers) were almost from Seemandhra but they can be considered as disciplined leaders of congress party and a bit upper handed politicians. The most important and the most vulnerable fact of that era’s politicians and governance is the ‘distance’ between the rulers /leaders and the common man of the state. This was one of the basic reasons that prevented the regional leaders from raising voice against the injustices and discriminations towards Telangana. (I request the readers that please do not come to a conclusion that I am trying to justify the injustices by mentioning the distance between the people and the rulers). The innocence of the people of Telangana is to blame for that as well. The people who fought against the autocratic rule of Nizam and the Zamindars voted for almost the same people who just changed their getup from ‘Roomi Topi’ to ‘Gandhi Topi’. The same zamindars / landlords became their leaders; against whom they were fighting for years to get justice. The zamindars came with folded hands to the poor asking them to vote for them and pledging them many things which even the people doesn’t know the meaning, the people were fooled by the leaders. The situation became worst with the AP formation and politics and politicians only prevailed for decades. The fighting of the people against Nizam’s rule was at least in a better way as they knew against whom to fight and the looter was one (zamindar), thanks to the democracy, the common man got hundreds of looters to fight with for his rights which the constitution has guaranteed. The Seemandhraites considered themselves as ‘ruling class’ and they considered us as their ‘slaves’.
NTR and CBN had ruled the state for almost two decades, have they ever paid any attention towards Telangana? NTR in his first decade of rule tried by every means to bury the congress in the state used ‘Telugu’ as everything, he applied Telugu wherever he can, even in the culture of the state, which lead the people of Telangana away and away from the mainstream and Telanganite started feeling as ‘stranger’ in his own place. Had the govt. of the time tried and made efforts to bring Ts in to main stream by correcting the mistakes and doing justice to T people in all aspects of life, the situation could have been entirely different from what it is today, but Ts were ignored by the govt. and the ruling class (read as Seemandhra people). No doubt Hyderabad was the 5th largest city of India even much before independence today also stands at the same place, there is no doubt CBN is the champion of making Hyderabad more international city and converting the city in to IT hub. Of course how much he and his associates made and how much the farmer and poor of T suffered during and after the transition of the Hyderabad and surrounding lands in to concrete jungle and polluted environment is known to every single Indian. While selling the lands and allotting the lands to MNCs in and around Hyderabad and giving lectures on IT and its benefits, CBN had completely ignored the rest of Telangana, within less than 5 years time the Hyderabad and surroundings became entirely different from rest of the Telangana, the development created jobs but has been filled with Seemandhraites. The gap between Hyderabad and rest of Telangana has been tremendously increased in terms of developments and it became worst when the developed part of the region denied jobs to the locals. When the demerger movement started during the tenure of CBN, he said it is for a ministerial berth and ignored, when the national parties like congress and communists supported the movement, he ignore it saying nobody wants Telangana (he was seeing the T region with the eyes of Chalasani and other traitors of T). By the time he accepted the fact that there is a sentiment for T (he is yet to accept the injustices done to T in the past 6 decades Seemandhra rule), it was too late, many of his close aides and lieutenants left him and his party. Today TDP is a desert in T having a few plants which can survive for a while but will vanish in the next elections.
You and your colleagues were very quick in condemning the fall of some statues, you never condemned the police firing on students, even today some thousands of students are facing police cases that including many criminal cases, you never talked on this issue in the state assembly, how shall we measure you?
Mr. CBN, the question you asked is totally wrong, you people (the leaders and the people of SA) never tried uniting, instead, always tried to ride on Telangana, where you partially succeeded in towing us into your chariot and we pulled your entire region from the desert like situation to a arable land, we made your region in to an Industrial hub by providing our natural resources, we made your region everything while forcing our people to starve.
I have earlier written an article ‘why the merger has not completed even after 6 decades?’ though this is not a sequel to that, but with the same theme, the difference is it was my question to Seemandhraites, today, a Seemandhrite (CBN) is asking the same question.
The conclusion is that no seemandhra ruler or common man ever tried to be united; instead they always threatened us to be united. Your dominant nature never let them mingle with us and the union/merger of TWO States never completed, we remain like two different communities and states within the state.
