Following a directive by the Hyderabad high court in Nampally, the Punjagutta police station in Hyderabad has registered a case of cheating and provoking communal tension against all the members of the Justice Srikrishna Committee, which had recently submitted a report on Telangana.

However, the investigations into the case have not yet commenced, since the police believe that it would be better to wait for the Supreme Court’s verdict in the matter. A private complaint was lodged before the court in Nampally against the committee members over the controversial and mysterious eighth chapter of the report.

In the complaint, it was stated that the eighth chapter speaks of Telangana turning into a jihadi and Hindutva hub, and hence it would not be advisable to hand over a separate state. This portion of the report was concealed by the government.

However, a petition was filed before the high court seeking a directive to the government to make the contents of the eighth chapter public. Following this, the court came down heavily on the Union and state governments, and directed it to make the eighth chapter public.

The governments, on the other hand, preferred an appeal before the Supreme Court. The matter is now pending a verdict.

Regarding the private complaint and the registration of the case against the committee members, the government has not yet decided to go in appeal before the high court.

A source said the government feels that they would wait for the SC’s verdict before they can even proceed in this matter, since both appear to be interconnected.

Arey bewaqoof the court in Nampally is only a 1st Class Magistrate Court not a High Court who is the junior most in the judicial services. Hyderabad is only a metropolitan city not a State which can have a High Court. I pity that magistrate who issued this senseless, illegal order. How can a magistrate order to register a case against a commission appointed under commissions of inquiry act. The report submitted by SKC is purely reccommendatory. Under the guise of T agitation every Tom Dick and Harry wants to gain cheap popularity. This magistrate is also no exception.
