Representatives of various civil society and political organisations, including balladeer and president of the Telangana People’s Front Gaddar, called upon organisations and individuals supporting separate Telangana state to oppose the elevated Metro Rail Project.

At a press conference called on Saturday, they warned the State government and the executing private partner L&T of public ire if they went ahead with the project by force. “When the Telangana state is formed, we, the people, shall decide if we need the project. How can they take a unilateral decision when an agitation of this scale is on?” Gaddar questioned.

The state president of the Human Rights Forum S. Jeevan Kumar opposed the land acquisition in the name of the project when a court case about the same is pending in the court.

If there is anything wrong in the project in allocation or land aquiring or if it is hitting the people life then they can oppose the project. But what is the point in opposing it just for opposing everything for Telangana? Today, I’m getting doubt that whether Gaddar is against Telangana or he has some wrong intensions in postponing the decision until TG is formed. What decision he’ll make after formation of TG? Is he going to be a part of TG govt.? It looks he is fighting for interests of some other people. Today, infrastructure has become a very important thing to attract investments and provide employment to the locals. With the rate of population growth the metros have its highly needed to have such a rail system. If he is interested in safegaurding TG interests he should fight in cases where the project is affecting the lower income population and where the project is designed such that it will benefit only few influential rich people.
