Chandrakanth Reddy, a young Telanganite was denied constable posting because he had raised “Jai Telangana” slogans during a public meeting of the former chief minister, Mr K Rosaiah. Chandrakanth approached the State Human Rights Commission on Monday
Chandrakanth Reddy told the Commission that he was not being given the posting by the superintendent of police even after producing a letter from the sub-inspector of the concerned police station that said that the case was lifted against him after payment of a fine.
A petty case was booked against him for being active in the Telangana agitation and raising anti-government slogans during Mr Rosaiah’s public meeting in Vikarabad.
Admitting the petition, the Commission’s acting chairperson, Mr K. Peda Peri Reddy, asked the DGP to submit a detailed report within 15 days.
The petitioner was accompanied by several student leaders, including the Telangana Student Joint Action Committee chairman, Mr Pidamarthi Ravi.
