Pro-Telangana outfits urged to fight unitedly

Organisations, parties and individuals fighting for separate Telangana State should unite and mobilise support from people of other regions in the State and the country, said revolutionary poet Varavara Rao.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the separate Telangana movement should gather support from people of Andhra and other regions. “We are dividing people and instead we should isolate individuals and contractors. They are dictating terms to the State and Central governments and working against separate Telangana,” he observed.

The contractors turned politicians like Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, T. G. Ventakesh, Lagadapati Rajagopal and others should be isolated. The support of people from Andhra and Rayalaseema should be mobilised for the Telangana cause. “We should extend support to the people in coastal districts, particularly the Dalits and the poor fighting against thermal power stations which are going to destruct their lives,” he said.

The people who were fighting for the cause of Telangana should raise their voice in support of those fighting for their causes at different parts of the country. The tribal people in Chhattisgarh fighting for land, forest and water, people in Orissa fighting against Tatas, Posco and other multi-national companies and those in Gorkhaland and elsewhere were also waging a battle for justice.

Mr. Varavara Rao alleged that the personnel sent by the Centre to counter naxalites were ransacking villages, raping tribal women and driving them away from their land in Chattisgarh.

The parties, organisations and individuals fighting for Telangana should also talk about the plight of tribal people in Chhattisgarh.

He urged the journalists, poets and intellectuals to strive to bring the forces fighting for separate Telangana together.
