The rebel Telugu Desam MLA, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, said the party would be “wiped out” if it continues to adopt policies that are not in tune with people’s aspiration. He also said the party cadre would not accept his suspension from the party. Backed by another TD MLA, Mr K. Harishwar Reddy, Dr Janardhan Reddy came to the TD Legislature Party, a day after the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum recommended his suspension from the party for “anti-party activities,” and spent time with party leaders and cadre. The former MLC, Mr Sudhakar Rao, and the Telugu Yuvatha leader, Mr Jaipal Reddy, were also present.
Sources in the TD said the axe is likely to fall on Dr Janardhan Reddy after the Telangana Rangabheri public meeting to be held at Karimnagar on May 25. The meeting has already sparked protests from the TRS and other T-activists, who want the TD to first respond to all the questions raised by Dr Janardhan Reddy. “What is the point in holding a meeting? What is the party’s Telangana policy? This must be made clear first. Let the TD first move a resolution supporting the cause of Telangana at the Mahanadu,” he said. Dr Janardhan Reddy criticised the proposal to suspend him from the party. “Is it a crime to raise Jai Telangana slogans? Is it an anti-party activity? I have only asked the party chief to send the 2008 TD resolution supporting T to the Union home minister,” he said
