TRS district convenor Peddi Sudershan Reddy sustained injuries on his legs after he accidentally fell down during a brief clash between pro-Telangana agitators and the police in Warangal on Wednesday. Mr Reddy was injured when the police stopped a TRS and KUJAC rally from proceeding towards the residence of Telugu Desam Telangana Forum (TDTF) convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao near Suprabha hotel in the city.

According to sources, a group of pro-Telangana activists, after being prevented by police from proceeding towards the collectorate office as part of TJAC’s collectorate siege programme, changed direction at Kaloji Centre. They were, however, stopped by a large number of policemen near Suprabha Hotel, which led to a clash between police and the pro-Telangana activists leaving Mr Sudershan Reddy and four others injured.

Mr Reddy was immediately shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Infuriated at this, another group of agitators then reached the residence of Mr Dayakar Rao in Ramnagar and hurled stones. They also set a flexi-board of TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on fire, which was put out by policemen. Earlier, in the morning, the Kakatiya University police made preventive arrests of KUJAC chairman S. Rajesh and TRS youth leader K. Vasudeva Reddy, when they were proceeding towards Karimnagar to stage a protest. In all, the KU police arrested four student leaders.
