Aiming to give a boost to the ongoing separate Telangana agitation, a new Telugu newspaper, exclusively for the region, was launched here today. ‘Namasthey Telangana’ was inaugurated at a function here by the parents of students who allegedly committed suicide in support of the separate statehood demand.

The newspaper would reflect the sentiments, aspirations and the dreams of the people of Telangana, its editor Allam Narayana said. Alleging that the newspapers in the state did not reflect the people’s issues and particularly Telangana, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was the chief guest at the function, said the paper should truly be a people’s newspaper.

Responding to a request from one of the speakers, Chandrasekhar Rao announced that a Urdu newspaper, exclusively for Telangana, would also be brought out by next Ramzan.
