The state is set to witness the “biggest and most intense agitation” over Telangana till now in the run-up to the Monsoon Session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly starting on July 11. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) are planning to start mobilising people for the purpose from later this week to take their agitation to the “next and final level”.

Sources said the intensified agitation would cover the entire Telangana region, with pro-Telangana organisations planning a strike and an “indefinite shutdown” to bring the region, and the state administration, to a grinding halt. The date of the strike will be announced this week.

“All state government and private employees will go on strike. Universities, colleges and schools will not function, rail services will come to a halt and all state highways and national highways will be blocked,” said a TRS member after a meeting with TJAC on Tuesday.
