Taking serious objection to the comments by Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on the unanimous resolution passed by the state Assembly, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs on Tuesday decided to move a privilege motion against the MP.
Addressing a press conference, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said they would call on Speaker N Manohar on Wednesday and move a privilege notice against the MP for his alleged utterances belittling the unanimous resolution passed by the Assembly in support of scrapping 14-F clause from the presidential order.
“We have already spoken to other like-minded parties on the issue and they all have extended their support to the idea of moving a privilege motion against the MP. We have sought time from the Speaker on the issue. We will submit a written complaint to the Speaker demanding action against the MP for denigrating the Legislative Assembly and its sanctity,” Rao said and added that the MP needed immediate medical help because of his unstable behaviour.
Criticising the state government for going ahead with the written exam for SIs, despite pointing out glaring irregularities in the issue, Rao asked home minister Sabita Indra Reddy to stop misleading people of the region. “We have been bringing to the notice of the government serious irregularities in various recruitments, including Group-II jobs notification. We want the government to conduct the SI exams only after the Centre scraps the 14-F paragraph in the presidential order. We have also written an open letter to the chief minister demanding immediate recruitment to the 233 vacant posts of deputy tahsildar in Zone-V and VI through APPSC,” he said.
Meanwhile, the TRS state executive passed a resolution demanding that Telangana ideologue Jayashankar’s statue be installed on Tank Bund and include his life history as a chapter in the high school syllabus. Another resolution renaming Ekasila Park in Warangal after Jayashankar and installing a bronze bust in Telangana Bhavan was also adopted.
