United struggle for Telangana
News pulse, Politics | admin | June 11, 2011 at 7:27 amSeveral political leaders and prominent personalities of the region have called upon the people of the region to get ready for a united struggle to achieve a separate Telangana. The Telangana Co-ordination Committee (TCC) organised a solidarity meeting at the Basheerbagh Press Club here on Friday.
Telugu Desam rebel MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy and K Hareeshwar Reddy and former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao of the Congress attended. Nagam Janardhan Reddy alleged that the TDP had suspended him because he was fighting for the cause of Telangana.
“If party chief N Chandrababu Naidu reiterates his stand on Telangana by submitting a letter to the Union home ministry, that will clinch the issue and help the Centre form T state.’’ He criticised the TJAC for not accommodating other political representatives on it. Hareeshwar Reddy said the TDP would witness an exodus in the coming days and a large number of party leaders and cadre would join them in support of the separate state movement.
Jupalli Krishana Rao said that if all the ministers from the region were prepared to quit, Telangana state would become a reality soon.
“After enough exercise the UPA government had made the statement on December 9, 2009 but it is incomprehensible why it is delaying the final declaration,’’ he said and observed that TJAC should extend its cooperation to all T organisations and political leaders fighting for a T state.
TCC chairman A Gopal Krishan said that in 1969 Telangana people had faced a great betrayal but the people would not take it again now. “If all the MPs and MLAs from the region sink their party affiliations and come on a common platform, the Telangana state will become a reality very soon,’’ observed the 1969 movement leader. TCC general secretary G Srinivasulu presided. Dr Babu Rao Varma, G Vivek and other leaders occupied the dais.
