Appealing to the Telangana employees’ leaders to withdraw the strike notice as the Central leadership was holding deliberations on the Telangana issue, the PCC Chief, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, has said that he was optimistic of a lasting solution as the Centre stepped up efforts. He also appealed to all the political parties in the State to strive to achieve consensus on Telangana issue as advised by the Union Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, the PCC chief said the party high command would discuss the Telangana issue with the Seemandhra leaders as was done with the Telangana leaders. He said that on Tuesday he told the Seemandhra MLAs, MPs, Forum convenor and Primary Education Minister, Dr S. Shailajanath to prepare a list of representatives from the Rayalaseema to participate in discussions with the high command. He also told the same to the Eluru MP, Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, who came to the Gandhi Bhavan, to finalise a 10-member list from Andhra region. He said that it was up to the leaders whether the Rayalaseema and Andhra leaders would participate jointly in the discussions with the high command or not.

Stating that discussions would solve all problems, the PCC president appealed to the leaders of both the regions not to make provocative statements though they have their own feelings. He said the Congress party was trying to hammer out consensus within the party on Telangana issue. He opined that the symbol of Telangana in the Congress flag was not a big issue and said the Telangana Congress leaders have a separate room in Gandhi Bhavan.

Though there was a problem with the absence of the ministers from Telangana region, he said the government was trying to overcome the problem. Responding to a question, Mr Botsa appealed to the media not to inject resignation mania into the Telangana MLAs, who were thinking of tendering resignations once again.

Tendering unconditional apology to those who were hurt on seeing objectionable photos published in a book published by a person belonging to Vizianagaram district, the PCC chief said it was not proper to publish such photos lowering dignity of others. Though he did not involve himself in printing of such a book, he was tendering apologies to those who were hurt while seeing them.

The appointment of new PCC executive committee will be taken up after the conclusion of Telangana issue, he said and added that the PRP leaders would get their due share in the AICC, PCC and DCC executive committees depending upon their stature. Every one was pre-occupied with the Telangana issue and hence the merger meeting of the PRP into Congress may not be held soon, he added.
