With the Telangana fire showing no signs of abatement, the Congress has assured its leaders from Andhra Pradesh that an “amicable solution” of the controversial issue could come up after the monsoon session of parliament. It is learnt that agitating leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra regions Pradesh have been told to wait till the monsoon session is over and not aggravate the matter.
Because the central leadership would be busy in chalking out the floor strategy at a time when the political heat over lokpal bill and corruption has reached a melting pot. Also, the central leadership wants some more time to hold further consultations with all the stakeholders.
“It cannot be resolved in a day or two. The views of all the stakeholders have to be taken into account before coming up with a solution. Also, our efforts would be to arrive at some kind of a consensus on the contentious issue,” a senior Congress functionary said.
As a way out, a section within the Congress had suggested setting up an autonomous council for the Telangana region on the pattern of Gorkhaland model.
