Do Telangana kids need to sacrifice their lives?

There are differing views on the call for ending fast on to death by the students.
One of the viewpoints is that Telangana agitation has risen to this level because of the students of Osmania University in particular and students of Telangana in general. There is no doubt in that. Had the students in Osmania University not responded in such a ferocious way KCR’s fasting would not have acquired the cutting edge. This is absolutely true. World has seen the emotional intensity of the agitation when the young of Telangana have self immolated. Due to all of the above, some hold that fasting should continue. But will students’ fasting advance the movement at this juncture and in the present context.

What is the present stage of agitation and present context?
We don’t live in the times of freedom movement when democracy was an ideal and ideology was ruling the world. Britain was at least trying to act that it promoted democratic expression of the urges and sentiments of the people of its ruled countries. On the other hand, today congress government has established a police state. The case in point is the midnight police excesses on Ram Dev camp. The 8th chapter of srikrishna committe is not only a recommendation but ratification and re-emphasis on what is being practiced in India since indira Gandhi’s time.

Fasting in essence is an attempt to appeal to the better side of the adversary but today’s government and seemandra elite have no better side to appeal to. They want to manage people. They have a coloniser’s mind set. The question which arises is, for whose interest? It is to save the interests of contractor politicians, professional robber baron politicians and corporate interests. Should our young children sacrifice their lives in these insensitive times, instead of using their energies in a coordinated fashion with the whole Telangana population which has gotten steeled up to fight with a rare unity, rarely witnessed in contemporary political history of India? We have to hit at the political, economic and social interests of the oppressors (Ashta Digbandanam) and should not punish ourselves by fasting.

The photos of Madhu Yashki bringing bottles of mineral water on a motor cycle as a pillion rider bringing water to the fasting students is poignant image stating that of every telanganite standing for each other. Let us not spoil the atmosphere of this rare unity by questioning the sincerity of the leaders who are appealing for the withdrawal of fasting of the university students. Students are too precious. The whole Telangana movement is for a state for them to live and enjoy.

Having said this, once ‘Sarvajana Samme’ comes on board, just in case it is required, fasting of KCR will make it nuclear which will scare the shit and wits out of the ruling elite at the state and centre and make them come crawling on their knees and offer Telangana. I hope it’s not needed to get Telangana.
