Talking about the Telugu Desam leaders’ stand on Telangana, the party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “We clarified our stand during Mahanadu. Now the Congress and the Centre have to solve the Telangana issue. But instead, the Congress is targeting the TD.”
“YSR Congress is neck-deep in corruption, the TRS is indulging in blackmail politics and the Congress, too, is hit by corruption and incompetence. Hence, the TD alone has a bright future and we can win the next polls with a big majority,” he remarked.
He also said that the Central government should take an immediate decision on the Telangana issue and pointed out that the people of three regions had given their opinion to the Justice Srikrishna Committee and the ball was in the Centre’s court. Mr Naidu was addressing a HRD workshop for mandal-level leaders from Coastal Andhra at NTR Trust Bhavan here. He also interacted with party leaders from the three regions. Indulging in some plain talk, he clarified that no party was ready to face elections at this juncture, but the present political turmoil due to the Telangana agitation could lead to a snap poll. He also asked the state government to conduct elections for local bodies.
