Telangana legislators in a fix over next move
News pulse, Politics | admin | July 27, 2011 at 7:01 pmWith Speaker N Manohar rejecting their resignations, Telangana legislators planning to pin down the Centre by putting in their papers have been left high and dry and are now clueless what to do next. The Congress and TDP legislators are a divided lot, with some planning to resign again, while others do not want to pursue the issue any more.
The group of 47 Congress MLAs, including 11 ministers who resigned on July 3 and 4, held talks with AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday in New Delhi. They are also looking at Panchayati Raj Minister K Jana Reddy, who had exhorted them to resign but is now “keeping quiet”
On Wednesday, Reddy said if the Centre was serious about a dialogue with them and make efforts to resolve the Telangana issue, the MLAs would not have to resign again. “Right now we are looking at talks with Azad,” he said
