The success of social activist Anna Hazare’s campaign on the issue of Lok Pal has inspired the Telangana activists to start thinking of organising a similar Satyagraha. Telangana Joint Action Committee convenor Prof Kodanda Ram said that the struggle for Telangana state will follow in the footsteps of Anna Hazare and achieve its goal during the current year itself.
Ram said that the indefinite mass strike in entire Telangana region from September 6 will be on the lines of Anna Hazare’s struggle. “The indefinite strike, with the complete participation of all the sections of Telangana people will start from September 6. There is no question of any change in this programme”, he said.
Ram rejected the appeal of a Telangana minister Sridhar Babu to postpone the strike in view of illness of the AICC President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Babu, who along with other Telangana ministers has resumed his duty after submitting the resignation said that the decision on Telangana was being delayed because of the absence of Sonia Gandhi and it will be taken as soon as she returns.
