Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Senior leader Rajanath Singh today castigated the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for not having any ”commitment” on carving out a separate state of Telangana in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing a press conference here, he said the Congress party had ”violated” the assurance given to the people on the formation of the statehood.

Stating that the party’s stand always was to establish smaller states in the country and as part of it the BJP will fulfill the commitment of giving a separate state of Telangana if it returned to power at the Centre.

Mr Singh said democratically agitations for a separate state was not against any Parliamentary system or procedures.
