Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured Captains of Industry that the state government will not only provide incentives and infrastructure facilities to them but also provide them all the security and protection the industry requires in the wake of unrest in the state, particularly in Telangana region.
Without directly mentioning the ongoing separate Telangana statehood movement, Kiran Reddy said: “The state government will give you full protection. You don’t have to be concerned about this. You will have no problem. All parties and sections want the industry to prosper in Hyderabad. Hence you can be rest assured that industries will have no problem here.” The chief minister was interacting with Captains of Industry at the Southern Regional Council meet of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the city late on Friday evening.
Explaining the various programmes initiated by the state government for industrial development in the state, the chief minister said: “We require the support of the industry. Otherwise we cannot go forward. The world has suffered in the recent past from the economic depression. But India has tackled the economic depression very well and the module we followed enabled us to withstand the crisis. We were better than many developed countries.”
Stating that the state government had recently cleared 26 new industries with investments touching a whopping Rs51 billion, Kiran Reddy said there were several more proposals worth Rs300 billion in the pipeline.
“Andhra Pradesh is doing very well in the industrial sector. Many industrialists and investors are coming forward to invest in the state despite certain disturbances, and we are proud of this fact and are encouraging all of them,” he said.
Revealing that the state government would soon come out with a new transparent land allotment policy, he said: “We are trying to make the partnership between government and industry as transparent as possible so that there are no problems for the business sector. The new land allotment policy would be announced after taking suggestions from the industrial and other sectors. It will be much simpler. We are trying to compete with the best performing states. Whatever incentives you want, please ask us. We are here to do. We will be as accommodative and as reasonable as possible.”
Speaking about the forthcoming Partnership Summit to be held in January 2012, the chief minister said the state government will do its best to make it a grand success.
“We will showcase the best of Andhra Pradesh and India. We are sure we can make it a big event with the cooperation of CII.”
