In a startling statement, the Peddapally MP, Dr G Vivekanand, on Friday said those who were not interested in creation of separate Telangana were accepting positions. He also said that the resigned Telangana Congress MPs would attend Parliament session whenever the government was in crisis.

Speaking to the media at his residence here on Friday, Dr Vivek said the news agency Survey on Telangana issue was totally wrong and nobody would believe it. Stating that he would announce his survey on Telanagana within three-days, Dr Vivek said that 70 per cent of citizens in Hyderabad were in favor of separate Telangana State. He exuded confidence that the Congress high command would concede separate State as promised earlier. He also opined that the Congress would lose its base in Telangana region if the Centre failed to concede the demand.

Stating that the sentiment in the Telangana region was very strong, the Congress MP said they would move forward by strengthening the Congress party in the Telangana region. The people would have faith in Congress only when it speaks about Telangana, he said.

Claiming that the Telangana Congress leaders have slowed down their movement for a while because their supremo, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi was under medical treatment in the US, he said that Ms Gandhi alone could take a decision on Telangana and appealed to the Telangana youth not to commit suicides. He said the Telangana Congress Steering Committee will discuss the issue of ‘unilateral decisions’ issue by inviting the ministers, who were attending to their duties.

Making it clear that there was no role of the Congress party and the State government in ordering CBI inquiry into the alleged ill-gotten assets of the YSR Congress Party Chief, Mr. Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Dr Vivek said the Congress party would not tolerate corrupt practices and therefore it kept its leader Suresh Kalmadi and DMK leaders Raja and Mrs. Kanimozhi in jail. The Congress party also did not hesitate to remove Mr. Ashok Chouhan from the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Asking why Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was afraid of CBI inquiry when he was honest, Dr Vivek said it was not proper for the YSR Congress Party chief to knock the doors of Supreme Court to get a stay. He said the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has cleared the proposal for reopening of Ramagundam Fertilizers Company by sanctioning Rs 5000 crores.
