Chiranjeevi joined the Congress party formally in the presence of young leader and party president Sonia Gandhi’s son Rahul Gandhi, as she was recovering after a surgery in USA. Cold water was thrown on the enthusiasm of Chiranjeevi who thought that he would handled with kid gloves after joining the ruling party. Chiranjeevi’s happiness was short-lived, because of the attitude of the party leaders – more particularly the young leader Rahul Gandhi.
Chiranjeevi was elated when the Congress party has sent eminent leader A K Antony as its emissary to negotiate PRP’s merger in Congress. There has been a sea change in the attitude of Congress elders from the day they invited Chiranjeevi cordially into the party.
Chiranjeevi should have been enrolled as member of the Congress on Saturday morning. But all the Congress leaders were busy with the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi. At least the admission should have been done in the after noon. No one bothered about him till 5 o’clock in the evening. At around 6 o’clock, Chiranjeevi’s admission was completed in a simple ceremony.
Chiranjeevi has patiently waited for Rahul Gandhi as his admission in Congress with out his presence would not have made any sense after this long wait. Rahul Gandhi who came very late, has not even put a Congress shawl around Chiranjeevi’s shoulders, formally marking his entry into the party. He just shook hands with Chiranjeevi and disappeared.
Chiranjeevi was thoroughly disappointed at the development and the smile on his face has vanished.
