Telangana Cong politicians to support general strike

The Telangana Congress leaders today decided to extend their total support to people’ general strike launched under the aegis of Telangana Joint Action Committee demanding statehood for Telangana.

Talking to the press persons after the Telangana Congress steering committee meeting here, Congress MP Gutta Sukender Reddy stated the meeting took a unanimous decision to boycott the Parliament proceedings. He said the Telangana congress leaders submitted resignations only to mount pressure on the government and not to destabilise the government.

He expressed confidence that the Congress led UPA government at the centre would take a favourable decision on Telangana state formation. The steering committee meeting was attended by seven MPs including Manda Jagannadham, G Vivek, Komatireddy Rajagiopal Reddy, Rajaiah and Madhu Yashki, three Ministers — Basavaraj Saraiah, Sridhar Babu, Ponnala Laxmaiah, two MLCs , six MLAs including S Satyanarayana, T Rajaiah, Gandra Venkataramana reddy, K Laxmareddy, Bheekshmaiah goud, MLCs K R Amos and Yadav Reddy and also former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao.
