Telangana is boiling. There is Sakala Janula Samme (general strike) paralyzing the region…. Public representatives are preparing to press their resignations…. State looks poised to pass through a more difficult period in the days ahead.

But the central government which has been in a helpless situation to take a decision one way or the other on state bifurcation is probing all possible ways to surmount the crisis.

The government has reportedly decided to use the same technique it used to quell the Telangana movement in 1969. The Centre then made Chenna Reddy the CM and doused the Telangana fires. Now it is reportedly planning to elevate the Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha to the CM post.

However, there is plenty of difference between the 1969 movement and the present. The agitation then has not seeped so deeply into the people, as it had now. Now, if the center used the same technique, there is no guarantee that it would work out. However, the center appears to be bent on taking a blind shot.

Damodara Raja Narasimha has accepted the Deputy Chief Minister post, despite warnings by agitators not to pick up crumbs offered by the Seemandhra rulers. He has explained why he had to take the post. Now the question is will he accept, if he is made CM? Will he be ready to be branded as Telangana traitor? Mystery shrouds this answer.
