Govt. to implement ‘no work, no pay’ rule strictly
News pulse, Politics | admin | September 30, 2011 at 4:17 amThe State Government decided to act tough with the striking employees by strictly implementing “no work, no pay” rule even as the Sakala Janula Samme in the Telangana region entered the 19th day on Friday.
Since tomorrow being the pay day, the government decided to disburse salaries for only 12 days the employees had worked despite the fact that October is a festival month with two important festivals–Dussera and Deepavali – coming in the first and last week respectively.
The decision of the government to pay only 12 days salary to the striking employees has triggered off loud protests from the leaders of various political parties and also the TNGOs and TJAC. They described the government’s action as draconian and inhuman as the right of the employees to strike or protest cannot be snatched away.
While asserting that such suppressive moves of the government will not deter the employees in continuing their agitation, the TNGO leaders wanted the salaries to be paid in full without any cut keeping in view the two important festivals coming during the month.
The TRS and TJAC leaders in a move to mitigate the hardships of the Class IV employees and outsourcing staff due to wage deductions have made arrangements to supply required food grains and other essential commodities keeping in view the ensuing festivals.
Meanwhile in pursuance of the call given by the TAJC, Hyderabad remained completely shut down today with hotels, business establishments; petrol bunks and cinema theatres remained closed voluntarily dislocating the normal life. The banks functioned normally, though the financial transactions were minimal due to the closure of markets.
The police made elaborate security arrangements by posting armed pickets at all important establishments and also in sensitive areas. Police pickets were also posted before the petrol bunks, banks, telephone exchanges and railway stations.
While the RTC buses continued to remain off the roads in view of the Sakala Janula Samme, auto services were only partial as some of the auto unions extended support to the bandh. In view of the petrol bunks remaining closed, private vehicles, including two-wheelers, were very few on the roads. As a result many of the busy roads wore a deserted look.
The educational institutions are closed due to Dassera vacation, while the courts have been functioning in view of the on-going general strike. After a two-day bandh even the industrial sector remained closed today though a few of them functioned with depleted attendance.
Except for a few minor incidents like burning of effigies of CM by the PDSU and New Democracy students at Vidyanagar Cross Roads, the Hyderabad Bandh passed off peacefully.
