L Rajagopal ki em Pani, RTA office laa?
News pulse, Politics | admin | September 28, 2011 at 4:14 amAll hell broke loose at the RTA office on Tuesday, when Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal went there. There was jostling and fist fights between the police and TRS and Telangana Congress leaders who protested against the presence of Lagadapati Rajagopal. In the melee TRS MLA Harish Rao fainted, Telangana NGO leader Swamy Goud was injured. Police DCP Stephen Ravindra got his hand fractured. Police arrested Rajagopal, another Telangana Congress MP Madhu Yashki, Congress MLA Vishnu Vardhan, TRS MLAs Koppula Eswar, Harish Rao Swamy Goud, and others.
Red carpet for Samaikya Andhra and gate closure for Telangana?
TRS and Telangana Congress leaders have expressed anger that while Lagadapati was welcomed with a red carpet, same Congress party MP Madhu Yashki and TRS leaders were not allowed to speak to the Transport Commissioner Hiralal Samaria.
Why is this discrimination?
Though from a different party, TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah who also hails from Seemandhra has explained that while Lagadapati went to RTA office to offer his sympathies to RTA Jt. Commissioner Srinivas who was beaten up, Madhu Yashki and others went there with intent to beat them up. Will you open your doors and invite some one who came to beat you up? He questioned.
Congress MLC Rudraraju Padmaraju has also said that Lagadapati went to the RTA office because Srinivas, the officer beaten up by agitators happened to be the son-in-law of Kanchi Rama Rao, a prominent Congress leader from his constituency.
But Madhu Yashki says they went there only after they were informed that Lagadapati has threatened the RTA employees. He said Lagadapati has allegedly threatened the striking RTA employees that he would have them suspended and get CBI cases against them. “It is because he has threatened the employees, we went there,” he has explained.
Whatever the reason for Lagadapati’s going to the RTA office, it is clear that he has escalated the already prevailing tensions. Now, agitators have pitched upon dharnas and rasta rokos in Telangana protesting against the arrest of Swamy Goud and other leaders. In Vijayawada, Congress is observing bandh, protesting against Rajagopal’s arrest.
Was Rajagopal’s visit intentional? Could be. Because when the TRS chief KCR went on hunger strike, Lagadapati has also started a hunger strike, mocking him.
