Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao today appealed to the public to actively participate in the indefinite strike by “all sections of people” in support of separate Telangana which is scheduled to begin from tomorrow in the region.Addressing a well-attended public meeting at SRR College Grounds here this evening, Rao said non-gazetted officers, gazetted officers, students, teachers, lecturers, advocates and others would participate in the strike.
To achieve the long-pending goal of separate state, it has become necessary to launch an indefinite stir in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, the former Union Minister said.As part of the agitation, buses will not ply, trains will be stopped, coal will not be produced in Singareni, schools, colleges and offices will remain closed from tomorrow onwards, the TRS chief said. The State Government is threatening to invoke ESMA against the employees who go on strike, but the warning will not succeed, Rao maintained.
“We are ready for our heads to be cut off but we will not go back from our movement for Telangana,” he stated. The agitation will go on till Telangana state is achieved, Rao said. The meeting was jointly convened by TRS, Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), BJP and CPI (ML) among other parties and organisations.TJAC Chairman M Kodandaram, in his address, said justice will be done to the Telangana people only after the region is granted statehood.
