More T MLAs threaten to quit

Even as public transport and educational institutions remained shut for the third day in Hyderabad on Wednesday, employees of medical and electricity sector joined the Sakala Janula Samme threatening the delivery of essential services to the people. Government efforts to negotiate with the Joint Action Committee and different unions failed yet again, with the JAC not budging from its statehood demand status.
Komatireddy Venkatareddy, a state minister, announced that he would resign and sit on a fast if the Centre does not make its stand clear on Telangana by the month-end.
TDP legislators from Telangana region also threatened another round of resignations, if Telangana statehood was not assured. It is learnt that a delegation of Congress legislators would go to Delhi this weekend to impress meet the high command.
With Singareni Collieries still shut and affecting coal supply for power production, government is imposing power cuts.
Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy requested the Centre for supply of coal and power.
Reddy also appealed to JAC to call off the strike. “The strike is affecting the region with high concentration of pump sets and also where 84 lakh people travel by government buses. The Centre is aware of your aspirations, what more you (agitators) want.”
