Amid hundreds of followers and supporters of Telangana movement, the four TDP rebel MLAs – Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Mr Harishwar Reddy, Mr Jogu Ramanna and Mr Boda Janardhan – jointly announced the new outfit’s name ‘Telangana Nagaara Samithi’ (TNS) at the Umamaheswaruni temple situated in the Nallamalla forest near Achampet town of Mahbubnagar district.
The leaders arrived at the temple in a procession after a road show in Achampet town and performed special pujas to the presiding deity. The four MLAs were accorded a warm reception by the Telangana supporters. With Bonalu carrying on their heads, scores of women welcomed them.
Addressing a public meeting held in Achampet town, Mr Janardhan Reddy lashed out at Telugu Desam president Nara Chandrababu Naidu, saying that Naidu’s two-eye theory on the Telangana issue was the main reason for his quitting the party and alleged that the TDP was working in support of the united Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Janardhan Reddy said there was no base for the movement of united Andhra Pradesh as people from half of the State were seeking bifurcation. He claimed that he had tried to raise the issues related to the Telangana region in the Assembly several times, Mr Naidu prevented him. He said the TDP lacked commitment to a separate Telangana state and described the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum as a snake without fangs.
Mr Harishwar Reddy alleged that the formation of a separate Telangana was being delayed due to Mr Naidu’s two-eye police. He advised both the Congress and the TD MLAs from Telangana to open their eyes and work sincerely for the separate state by quitting their respective parties.
He said that they had left the TDP, realising the importance of a separate Telangana State and respecting the people’s aspirations. He further said that their party would involve all sections of people and their struggle would continue till creation of a separate state.
People from Nagar Kurnool, Vanaparthi, Kalvakurthi, Achampet and Jedcherla Assembly constituencies and students from different colleges in the district turned up in large numbers at the meeting.
