The Legislature Secretariat on Tuesday served notices on two rebel MLAs – G Srikanth Reddy of the Congress (Rayachoti) and Y Balanagi Reddy of the TDP (Mantralayam) directing them to present themselves before Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to give their explanation on their resignations to their posts on September 3 at 4 p.m.

Both the MLAs had recently resigned to their posts in protest against inclusion of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name in the CBI’s FIR. In all, 26 MLAs who including 23 Congress, two TDP and one PRP had resigned to their posts. However, another three Congress MLAs – Jayasudha (Secunderabad), K Surekha (Parakal) and K Satyavathi (Bhadrachalam) loyal to Kadapa MP Jagan had not resigned by claiming that their resignations submitted for Telangana cause were already ‘pending’ with the Speaker.

The Speaker has reserved his judgment in respect of another rebel TDP legislator N Prasanna Kumar Reddy, who appeared before him on Monday. Already, a disqualification petition filed by the TDP was pending against him since more than a year. Similar petition was also pending against his colleague Balanagi Reddy. It may be recalled that Manohar had already served notices on four Congress rebel MLAs – K Surekha (Parakal), C Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu), A Amarnath Reddy (Rajampet) and G Srikanth Reddy (Rayachoti) based on disqualification petitions filed by the Congress legislature party. He also served notices on two TDP and one PRP legislators based on disqualification petitions filed by their respective parties. Majority of them have responded to it leaving the Speaker to take a final decision on the petitions.

The Speaker has also reserved his judgment in respect of resignations submitted by suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy (Nagarkurnool), rebel TDP legislators S Venugopala Chary (Mudhole), K Harishwar Reddy (Parigi) and Jogu Ramanna (Adilabad) who resigned for T cause.
