A number of students were injured severely when the police resorted to lathi-charge, barging into the Nizam College Hostel rooms here on Monday.

The Nizam College Hostel students have tried to organize a rally to extend support to the Professors’ Deeksha as part of the Sakalajanula Samme. But the police have not allowed them to organize the rally and obstructed them at the entrance of the Hostel itself. The irate students resorted to stone pelting at the police and damaged the vehicles parked on the road near the Hostel. About 50 police personnel wielding lathis, under the leadership of Central Zone DCP Mr Akun Sabarwal, entered the hostel and closed the main door. Later they entered into the rooms and resorted to severe lathi-charge. The police have not left the students who tried to hide in the toilets and bathrooms.

Later the police arrested the students and shifted them to the police station. Coming to know of the incident, the Telangana Nagara Convener Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy rushed to the Nizam College Hostel along with another leader Mr K Harishwar Reddy.
