In a move that could further intensify the Telangana statehood movement, the Kiran Kumar Reddy government arrested Telangana Employee JAC Chairman Swami Goud.
This attempt to crush the Telangana General Strike by arresting the leadership will surely boomerang and will ultimately lead to the downfall of the Andhra Pradesh government.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi head Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao severely condemned the arrest and demanded immediate release of Swami Goud. He warned that the Chief Minsiter is playing with fire.
Swami Goud has been shifted to Chilkalaguda Police Station. The situation outside the Chilakalaguda Police Station is tense with hundreds of people staging a dharna.
KCR is expected to visit the police station in a short while.
Update - AP government tastes Telangana fury first-hand. Thousands of Telanganites came on to the roads and start dharnas and rastarokos across 10 districts. Realizing that their plan back-fired, the state government released Swami Goud immediately. This is the first victory of Sakala Janula Samme.
