Telangana Cong, under Jana Reddy?

Indications suggest that the Telangana Congress leaders might split the party and form a separate Congress under the leadership of senior leader and Minister K Jana Reddy.

Congress men are not believed by the Telangana people, despite putting best efforts in the statehood issue. Though they have resigned to the MLA posts, their resignations have not been accepted by the Speaker Nadendla Manohar. As they could not get their resignations accepted, they are being viewed with suspicion by the people. They would be able to clear this suspicion only when they come out of the Congress party.

They also would be able to get their resignations accepted as the Banswada TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy could get his resignation accepted.

With this in view, the Congress leaders of the region are believed to be thinking of coming out of the party and launching their own regional party with the achievement of Telangana as its sole aim.

Of the 294 states in the state, there are 119 seats in the Telangana region. Of the remaining seats in the Seemandhra region, no party would be able to get the seats required to form a government as there are many parties fighting to share them. Apart from the Congress and the TDP, the newly formed YSR Congress is also likely to get some share of its own in the Coastal region. With this situation, who ever wins the majority of seats in the Andhra region, will have to seek the help of the party which wins majority of seats of the Telangana region. No party other than the TRS is now in a position to get maximum number of seats in the Telangana region. Even K.

Chandrasekhara Rao, President of the TRS is working in the direction of getting maximum number of seats in the 2014 elections, rather than achieving Telangana for the present.

In this context, if the Congress leaders remain in the Congress party and fight for their seats in the next elections, they are not even sure of winning. It is with this in mind that the Congress Telangana region are said to be working towards forming a regional party. By coming out of Congress, they hope to win the confidence of the people back. Even if they win 40 to 50 seats, they will be a force and bargain for position.
