TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter Kavitha, who is spearheading the movement for the protection and preservation of Telangana art, culture, heritage, traditions, language and festivals, formally inaugurated the Telangana Jagruthi district office in Karimnagar. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Kavitha said that she had launched the Telangana Jagruthi to protect ancient history and traditions of Telangana region.

Appealing to the people to continue the agitation for the formation of a separate Telangana State, she said that they were celebrating the Oorura Bathukamma festival from September 27 onwards in the entire Telangana region. She said that the Bathukamma festival would be celebrated in the temple town of Vemulawada in Karimnagar district on October 3.

Charging that the Andhra leaders were bent upon siphoning resources of the Telangana region, she said that the Andhra leaders had planned to take up Povalaram only to divert the Godavari river waters to their region denying the same to the Telangana region. She said that the future of Telangana would be bleak if river waters were siphoned off to Seemandhra regions.

She also appointed T. Tirupathi Rao as district Telangana Jagruthi convenor, Pasula Charan as student wing Jagruthi leader. She said that they would constitute mandal and village level committees soon and take up programmes for the preservation of Telangana history.
