Two legislators from Telangana today resigned from the primary membership of the TDP. They sent their resignations to the party headquarters NTR Bhavan stating they could not continue in the TDP and get branded as “betrayers of Telangana.” Of the two, Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhana Reddy was suspended from the TDP three months ago for indulging in anti- party activities, while Parigi MLA Koppula Harishwar Reddy too had been sailing with the former by defying the party.

The duo, along with two other TDP rebel MLAs, submitted their resignations from the membership of the state Assembly as well demanding creation of Telangana state. Their resignations are pending disposal with Speaker Nadendla Manohar. Nagam, who served as a minister under Chandrababu Naidu between 1995 and 2004, indicated that he might launch a new political outfit to fight for the statehood cause. He might make a formal announcement in a couple of days.
