After completing the consultation process with the Congress leaders at the state level, the top brass of the central government would continue the process with the leaders at the national level in an endeavor to put an end to the prolonged suspense over the demand for a separate Telangana state.
The AICC General Secretary Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad, who is in charge of the party affairs in the state, speaking to the media after the meeting of the mini core committee on Monday disclosed that the exercise of consultations and eliciting opinions of the leaders at the state level was completed and now the same process would continue at the national level. He reiterated that the Telangana issue was a very complex one and hence it cannot be resolved in a day or two.
The mini core committee of the Congress consisting of Mr, Pranab Mukherjee, Mr. P. Chidambaram and Mr. Azad this morning held discussions with Mr. Chiranjeevi, who had recently merged his PRP with the Congress. The former minister from the state Mrs. Renuka Chowdhary was also present during the meeting.
After the meeting Mr. Chiranjeevi said that he had explained the prevailing situation in the state and also the hardships being faced by the people in view of the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme. He had impressed upon the central leaders the urgent and imperative need to take required measures to resolve the issue without any delay and dave the common man from further sufferings.
The Seemmandhra leaders including Mr. Kavuri Sambaisava Rao, Eluru MP, met the Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjeeon Sunday night and presented the views of the people of the two regions for maintaining status quo of the state.
As indicated by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the main trouble shooter of the UPA Government and the Congress party on Saturday, the process of consultations seemed to have been completed. He is expected to submit his assessment and appraisals to the AICC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi during the meeting of the main Core Committee this evening. Mr. Azad has already submitted his report to the AICC Chief and the core committee a few days back.
The crucial meeting of the core committee this evening, which will be attended by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, is likely to discuss in depth the findings of Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and then chalk out a plan of eliciting the views of the national level leaders on its own assessment from both the Pranab and Azad reports.
