DS files MLC nomination

Former PCC chief D Srinivas filed his nomination as the Congress candidate for the lone vacant seat to the Legislative Council here on Monday.
Mr Srinivas was accompanied by the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the PCC chief, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, and several ministers. The name of Mr Srinivas was announced by the Congress High Command on Sunday midnight surprising most of the ticket seekers and even seniors in the party.
It is learnt that Mr Botcha used his weight to get the ticket for his predecessor. It is also learnt that the Congress High Command, which initially favored fielding Congress senior leader Kanteti Satyanarayana Raju is learnt to have decided in favor of DS as it was felt by the leadership that it would be good to field a senior leader from Telangana like DS in the present situation. Mr Srinivas is also expected to be accommodated in the cabinet in the ensuing expansion.
