Nagam Janardhan and team barges into Dy Speaker’s chamber
News pulse, Politics | admin | October 1, 2011 at 8:13 amThe former minister and newly-found Telangana Nagara leader, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, and his followers created a scene in the Assembly on Saturday.
Demanding immediate acceptance of their resignations, Dr Nagam, accompanied by Mr Harishwar Reddy, Mr Venugopala Chary and Mr Jogu Ramanna barged into the chamber of the Deputy Speaker and locked the door from inside and declared that they would not come out until their resignations to Assembly were accepted by the Speaker. Added to this, mediapersons were not allowed into the Assembly premises. Dr Nagam and his troupe reportedly brought their clothes to stay in the chamber till their resignations were accepted.
It may be mentioned here that the four legislators who had quit the Telugu Desam party on the Telangana issue had submitted their resignations to the Assembly Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, and requested him to accept their resignations forthwith. However, the Speaker put their papers in the shelf.
Faulting Mr Nadendla Manohar for not accepting their resignations, Dr Nagam accused the former of trampling their legitimate rights. He also demanded that the 101 Telangana legislators, who had submitted their resignations over Telangana issue for the first time, to throng the Assembly and get their papers accepted. Alleging that the Seemandhra leaders were arguing that Hyderabad belonged to their ancestors, Dr Nagam ridiculed that there was no capital city for the Seemandhra region. He also asked the Seemandhra leaders whether their great grandfathers built the Assembly building.
Stating that this was the ripe time to exert pressure on the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to concede separate Telangana State, Dr Reddy advised the Telangana Congress leaders camping in Delhi to remain cautious and act with wisdom.
