DS pins hope on Sonia on T issue

Senior Congress leader D Srinivas expressed hopes that Congress president Mrs Sonia Gandhi would solve the Telangana issue amicably. Participating in Rachabanda programme at Collector’s office grounds in the town, he thanked Mrs Sonia Gandhi for making him as an MLC. Because of the support given by the people of Nizamabad Urban Constituency, he was able to attain the position he is enjoing, he said gratefully.
The former PCC president said that he was one among the few who strove for the welfare of the people of Telangana region. The people of the constituency have faith in him, he stated. Major and Medium Irrigation Minister P Sudarshan Reddy said that Rachabanda programme would help know the grievances of common people and to solve them. Several women participants left the venue when the Minister was speaking at the meeting.
Later, the Minister participated in the Rachabanda programme at Varni where the Telangana activists raised slogans in support of separate State. Bodhan DSP Jaffer Jawed chased them away. There were arguments between the Telangana activists and police personnel at the venue for some time.
