Following a complaint from revenue officials, Nalgonda Town police have registered a case against the former Andhra Pradesh minister under section 309 (attempt to suicide) in connection with his indefinite fast, a senior police officer told a news agency over phone from Nalgonda. Venkat Reddy, who had quit the ministry and joined the separatist agitation, had began his indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday last in Nalgonda town.
On the sixth day of Reddy’s fast today, police forcibly shifted him from the hunger strike camp in Nalgonda to a state-run hospital here in view of his deteriorating health.
